What this is
This NSF program provides postdoctoral support for recent PhD recipients in mathematical sciences to conduct research and develop as future leaders. Awardees choose between a Research Fellowship (focused on research) or Research Instructorship (combining research with teaching). Funding covers salaries and research expenses for 2–3 years, with amounts starting at $190,000 and varying by track and institution type. This is designed for early-career mathematicians and statisticians, not for companies or established researchers.
Who can apply
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have earned a doctorate in mathematical sciences within the past year (or will before the fellowship start date).
